Our
club is made up of approximately 70 members. Most are retirees.Members
ages range from the early 60’s to the mid 90’s.Seldom do we have less than 50 members in attendance at our weekly
meetings.In a recent survey,
members indicated that fellowship, fun, interesting programs and good service
projects are the major reasons they like Golden K.
What do we do?
We
have hands-on projects and projects that we support with financial
contributions.
We help with the Hope Wall School Christmas Dance, the spring
picnic, and graduation.
Our volunteers help with running the Special Olympics at KeelerSchool.
We volunteer to work at the city-wide Back-to-School Fair, and we
provide readers 3 days a week at People for Child Care, where we are greeted
as Grampa or Gramma.
There are a number of volunteers who serve as Helping Hands at the DreyerMedicalCenter.
We also host a monthly bingo session at Jennings Terrace, a
retirement home.
Over the past two years, our group of bell-ringers has collected
more money for the Salvation Army than any other service group in town.
